The first of two classes that will equip students with a certificate to teach English abroad, this course surveys language acquisition theory and surveys pedagogical practices for needs of non-native speakers in varied classroom settings. Students who are not seeking the certificate are not required to take both classes. With permission of the instructor, the courses may be taken out of order. Prerequisite: ENGL 112.
