ANSC 496 - Animal Breeding Lecture Hours: 3 Lab Hours: 0 Credit Hours: 3 Terms Offered: Fall, even years
A systems approach to selection and mating of livestock though the application of genetic principles to livestock production and management. Breeding objectives, heritability, direct and correlated responses, detection of heterozygotes, utilization of pedigree and progeny information for selection, crossbreeding, and genotype-environment interactions will be discussed. Prerequisite: BIOL 351 .
