Majors will be tested for speaking proficiency in SPAN 301. Students who do not rate at the Advanced level have the opportunity to take SPAN 390 to develop greater proficiency, or they can develop proficiency on their own (mission trips, study abroad, volunteerism in a Spanish-speaking community agency, etc. By SPAN 499 (usually taken during the last year), Advanced speaking proficiency is recommended.
