SPED 371 - Teaching Exceptional Students Lecture Hours: 3 Lab Hours: 0 Credit Hours: 3 Terms Offered: Fall, Spring, Summer
Provides prospective teachers with an introduction to teaching students with exceptional needs. Exceptional needs are defined in this course as a variation of difficulties (such as physical, emotional, behavioral, or learning disability or impairment) that causes an individual to require additional or specialized services or accommodations. State and federal laws, regulations, policies and procedures for identifying and teaching students with exceptional needs in schools will be addressed. Students will gain knowledge of practical strategies and resources for teaching students with exceptional needs and working alongside other professionals and stakeholders Prerequisite: EDUC 211 . Admission to Teacher Education Program required.
