Journalism Minor (JOUR)

Before being admitted to a program, a student must satisfy the requirements listed in the ACT/SAT Placement Information section of this catalog. Before enrolling in JMC 224 - Media Writing , a student must make a score of 70 or higher on the Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling Exam or have an ACT English score of 24 or an SAT Reading + Writing score of 590.

JMC 224 - Media Writing Credit Hours: 3
JMC 324 - Advanced Reporting Credit Hours: 3
JMC 488 - Communication Law Credit Hours: 3 (writing-intensive course)

Choose 6 hours from the following:

JMC 338 - Broadcast News and Sports Credit Hours: 3
JMC 441 - Topics in Journalism Credit Hours: 3
JMC 449 - Opinion Writing Credit Hours: 3
JMC 450 - Feature Writing Credit Hours: 3

Total: 18 Credit Hours

Note: The minor advisor may be able to waive prerequisites for some courses within these minors.
